Welcome to Save the Lassen Swim Team and Community Pool

Our Mission:
We are a community of swimmers, families, and supporters fighting to protect the future of the Lassen High School Swim Team, the Honey Lake Valley Community Pool, and access to aquatic programs for our youth, seniors, and entire community.
Our Story:
In 2018, the Lassen High School Swim Team was founded , a dream realized for countless students who finally had the opportunity to compete, grow, and represent their school in the sport of swimming. Since then, our team has thrived: building skills, friendships, school spirit, and community pride.
But the truth is , the swim team, and community access to the pool, have never been made a true priority by pool management or board leadership. Despite the team's success and the community’s overwhelming support, mismanagement, inflated administrative costs, and failure to plan have repeatedly put programs like the swim team at risk.
Two years ago, community members, including parents like us, fought hard to ensure the pool would stay open during the swim season. We created a nonprofit, raised funds, and offered solutions , only to find that pool management was unwilling to work collaboratively or transparently. Our community stepped up in good faith, and yet today, we face the same crisis again.
Why We Are Demanding Reform:
-
The pool has had over two years to plan, budget, and restructure to prioritize students and the community — but chose not to.
-
Inflated administrative salaries continue to drain resources needed to support public programs like swim team, lessons, and community use.
-
High school students, including this year's rising sophomores who just earned varsity times and placed at Divisions, may not have a team to swim for next season.
-
Seniors may lose their final chance to compete for their school.
-
Incoming freshmen may never get the opportunities that generations before them fought so hard to create.
-
The community continues to be asked to "donate and fundraise" to cover management’s failures, rather than seeing real, lasting structural change.
This fight is bigger than just one season.
This is about preserving opportunities for our youth, ensuring our public resources serve the public, and making sure that no future swimmer ever has to face this again.
